With over 150,00 treatments performed worldwide, no negative effects have been recorded. As Medical Needling does not use thermal heat like IPL or Lasers, it is safe to use on all skin types and colours with no risk. As well as this, the micro channels close after 1 hour and therefore infection is unlikely. Medical Needling produces similiar results to laser and ablative treatments, without the removal of the epidermis (outer most protective layer of the skin) delivering exceptional results without the risk.

What is involved in the treatment?
Prior to treament the area is cleaned and then numbed with a topical anaesthetic cream. The Medical Needling device is moved across the skin making tiny ‘micro’ channels in the outermost layers of the skin and creating microscopic injuries. It is these microscopic injuries that stimulate new collagen and elastin to rejuvenate the skin.

Is the treatment painful?
Due to the use of a topical anaesthetic, there is minimal discomfort.

What can I expect post treatment?
Skin will appear ‘flushed’, similiar to having had a hard workout at the gym or a moderate sunburn. You may have a mild throbbing and skin tightness. This is due to stimulation of the tissue and will subside within 24 – 48 hours. Skin may be dry and some will flake for a few days. We recommend the use of an anti-bacterial cleanser, an occluding balm for 5 days post treatment as well as a quality SPF.

LED light therapy is a non-invasive treatment used for skin rejuvenation and the treatment of acne. LED is a painless, light based skin treatment that delivers light via thousands of tiny light emitting diodes. The infrared wavelengths increase cellular activity, helping to bring nutrients to the treated area. This leads to an increases in blood flow, promoting the production of collagen and elastin fibres.

What do the different LED light therapy coloured panels do?

Red Panel (630nm)

  • smoothes texture and brightens complexion
  • accelerates healing to minimise scarring
  • minimises fine lines and wrinkles
  • regenerates and stimulates collagen production
  • minimises melanin production (pigmentation and sun-induced freckles)
  • excellent for post surgery to reduce bruising, puffiness and oedema (swelling)

The red panel is used for the treatment of ageing and sun damaged skin. By activating the skin cells, skin will be hydrated and skin will be brighter.

WHITE Panel (near infrared) 830nm
  • reduces inflammation
  • tightens and tones the skin
  • alleviates minor muscle aches and pains
  • reduces inflammation associated with inflamed acne
The deepest penetrating of all panels, the 830 nm near-infrared light targets dermal skin cells to raise their action potential and photostimulate dermal microcirculation for the temporary relief of minor discomfort of muscles and joints.

Blue Panel (410nm)
The blue light is used in the treatment of acne as it kills the P.Acne bacteria that cause infection and inflammation while drying out sebaceous activity (oil).

The blue light activates a substance called porphryns which undergo a chemical reaction, destroying the acne bacteria without damaging the surrounding healthy tissue.

We are also able to treat:

  • rosacea
  • fungal conditions
  • psoriasis

How many treatments will I need?
LED treatments can be done on their own, or within a facial treatment, post peel, medical needling or as a ‘boost’ to any skin rejuvenation treatments. Depending on the condition being treated, best results may require a course of treatment, 1-3 weekly over a 4 or 8 week period. For resistant acne, you may require more sessions.

What can I expect during treatment?
During treatment, you will be required to wear goggles. The increase in blood flow will have a warm feeling, similiar to the feeling of sun exposure (without the nasty UVA/UVB light).

20min $105  | Course of 6 $525
Facial treatment with LED $179

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photorejuvenation

As the population ages, ever increasing numbers of people are interested in improving their appearance. We are all born with beautiful skin, unfortunately many of us ruin our skin with exposure to UV rays from the sun and other environmental toxins such as smoking, excessive alcohol and drugs.

IPL skin rejuvenation works by a broad spectrum light that penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by either blood (vascular lesions/broken capillaries) or melanin (freckles) and denatures (damages) it. The body’s natural processes will then remove the injured tissue, leaving the skin with a more even tone and youthful looking appearance.

What can be addressed with IPL treatment?
IPL photorejuvenation will improve the appearance of photo aged skin, it will remove age spots (sun-induced freckles), most benign brown spots, redness caused by vascular lesions (capillaries), and reduces pore size while stimulating collagen and elastin fibres.

During treatment you may feel a slight sting similar to that of a small elastic band to the treated area.

How Many treatments are needed?
To achieve maximum results, a series of 3 – 5 IPL treatments is recommended, depending on skin condition, at 3 – 4 week intervals. You may require IPL to be used in conjunction with other treatments for ideal results.

What to expect post treatment?
Post treatment you may feel flushed and appear red, similar to that of an exercise workout. Brown age spots (pigmentation) will darken, as will vascular lesions (capillaries). This will clear anywhere from 3 to 10 days leaving the skin more even, refined and glowing.

IPL can be used to treat the face, neck, chest, hands and most other parts of the body. This is an ideal treatment for those with a more active lifestyle as the procedure requires minimal downtime with a low risk of side effects.

We ask that you have no sun exposure or the use of fake/chemical tans to the area to be treated during the course of IPL treatment.

Full Face $340 | Course of 3 $899 | Course of 5 $1520
Chest $340 | Course of 3 $899

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

How does Photodynamic Therapy work as an anti-ageing treatment?
PDT is the use of a photosensitising agent, 5ALA (Aminolevulonic Acid) and then activated by light to regenerate the cells and reduce sun damage.

ALA is a natural product found throughout the body and essential for haemoglobin synthesis. PDT kills unhealthy damaged cells only, assisting in the formation of fresh healthy new skin. The results are clearer, smoother and healthier glowing skin.

What can be treated with PDT?

  • fine lines and large pores
  • blotchy or poor quality skin
  • rosacea
  • psoriasis
  • warts
  • hypertropic lesions
  • sun spots and freckles
  • ACNE – see acne page
  • cystic acne
  • Bowens disease (medical)
  • sebaceous gland hyperplasia
  • seborrhieic keratoses
  • PDT for acne treatment

Acne Treatment
Acne is a common problem, especially for teenagers. Research has proven that 30% of patients are cured of acne following one treatment and up to 60% following two** as an alternate treatment to Roaccutane™ without the side effects associated with Roaccutane™ use.

PDT works by;

  • the destruction of sebaceous glands
  • destruction of P.Acnes, the bacteria that causes acne,
  • improves the texture and tone of skin

This treatment is suitable for those that have not responded well to antibiotics and prefer not to proceed with Roaccutane™. Most can expect an improvement in two weeks. (** With use of daily home care.)

How is the treatment performed?
After a thorough consultation, the skin is cleaned. The solution, 5-ALA is applied to the affected area. When applied to the skin 5-ALA is absorbed into abnormal and damaged cells. Once absorbed, an LED or IPL light source is focused on the treated area for a period of time. When exposed to this light, the abnormal skin cells are destroyed revealing new smoother, fresh healthy skin.

What happens post treatment?
Post treatment your skin will need to go through normal healing. You will be photosensitive (sensitive to light) for 24 – 48 hours. It is best to keep indoors as much as possible during this period. Expect that your skin will feel sunburnt and appear red and for some, mild swelling for 1 – 2 days. Your skin may also flake, crust or peel for 3-7 days. This is a normal result and means the treatment has worked by destroying the damaged cells. After 7- 10 days the redness would have all but disappeared and be well on it’s way to healing. Skin may still be dry and tight. 10 -14 days later healthy, smooth, clear skin will be revealed.

All skins respond differently depending on the skins condition, and may require repeat treatment.

Kleresca® – The Latest Acne Treatment

Our newest addition to Skin Clinic@Blyss Kleresca® acne treatment provides an alternative to medication, by harnessing the power of BioPhotonics to safely treat your acne and stimulate the tissue’s own repair systems.

Acne is painful enough, so the treatment shouldn’t be. If you’re looking for a new treatment with high safety and efficacy, Kleresca® could be just what you’re after.  Patients are simply treated twice a week for six weeks for just nine minutes each time. That’s literally all there is to it!

What is Kleresca®?
Kleresca® is a breakthrough BioPhotonic treatment that significantly and comfortably improves acne, with a demonstrated safety profile. It is offered exclusively in professional clinics.

Kleresca® harnesses the power of BioPhotonics to safely treat your acne and stimulate the tissue’s own repair systems. The treatment uses a high intensity in-clinic lamp together with a photo converter gel to kill bacteria in the skin and initiate healing.

The treatment is administered twice a week for six weeks. First we apply the Kleresca® gel to your face. It’s then illuminated under a multi-wavelength LED light for nine minutes.

You may feel a warm sensation on your skin, and most people find the treatment pleasant and comfortable. After nine minutes under the light, the gel is removed. Your complexion may experience redness after the treatment.

What is BioPhotonics?
BioPhotonics is a unique light conversion system that is designed to stimulate your skin’s own repair at the cellular level. Kleresca® is an innovative BioPhotonic treatment which utilises a multi-wavelength LED light combined with a photoconverter gel.

The gel allows the spectrum of wavelengths to penetrate into the skin to kill bacteria and stimulate your skin’s own repair systems. This treats your acne and encourages the build-up of collagen, which may assist the repair of acne scarring.

When can I expect to see results?
You should see noticeable improvements to your skin as the deeper layers respond and skin repairing occurs during the six-week treatment course.

For at least six weeks after your treatment, you can expect to see additional improvements to your complexion. Results have been seen to have a long-lasting effect for at least six months.

Safety information
The Kleresca® treatment takes place on your skin and is not absorbed or metabolised, making it a well-tolerated treatment option for acne.

In clinical trials, Kleresca® showed high safety with no serious adverse events, and the treatment itself was considered to be a pleasant and comfortable experience. Side effects in those treated include redness and hyperpigmentation (bronzing of an area of the skin) and slight discoloration of hair. All side effects were transient and did not require any intervention by the clinic.

The science
In clinical trials, Kleresca® showed high efficacy on people with moderate to severe acne. Nine out of 10 people saw an improvement to their skin, whereas every third person achieved clear or almost clear skin.

In an extended clinical trial, 92% of the people who had previously achieved an improvement of two grades or more on the Investigators’ Global Assessment (IGA) scale for acne severity went on to maintain this improvement. None of the people treated returned to their original acne severity. Improvements were maintained for at least six months.
