Non-Ablative Fractionated Laser – NAFL

From $1250
Nordlys Frax is a non-ablative fractional laser treatment designed to improve skin texture, scarring, fine lines and sun-related pigmentation. Using two wavelengths that work at different depths — 1550nm for deeper collagen stimulation and 1940nm for superficial pigmentation — treatment is tailored to your specific skin concerns by our qualified clinicians, with minimal downtime.

Improves Skin Texture and the Appearance of Scarring

The Frax 1550nm wavelength targets deeper skin layers to stimulate collagen production, which can help improve the appearance of acne scarring and uneven texture over a course of sessions.

Softens Fine Lines and supports skin Smoothness

By stimulating collagen and elastin production in the dermis, Frax 1550nm treatment is designed to support skin structure and reduce the visible appearance of fine lines over time.

Targets Sun Damage and Superficial Pigment

The Frax 1940nm wavelength works at a shallow, epidermal level to target sunspots, freckles and other benign pigmented lesions caused by sun exposure, with minimal downtime.

How Does Frax Work?

Nordlys Frax is a non-ablative fractional laser that creates microscopic zones of controlled heat within the skin, leaving the surrounding tissue untouched. This triggers the skin’s natural healing response, stimulating new collagen production over the following weeks. Because only a fraction of the skin is treated at a time rather than the entire surface, downtime is minimal compared to more aggressive resurfacing methods. The system offers two wavelengths that treat at different depths, and your clinician will select one or both based on your skin concern:

  • Frax 1550nm penetrates deeper into the dermis, targeting collagen stimulation for concerns like acne scarring, fine lines and skin firmness.
  • Frax 1940nm works at a shallower, epidermal level, targeting superficial concerns like sun damage and benign pigmented lesions such as sunspots and freckles.

Non-Ablative Fractionated Laser – NAFL FAQs

Nordlys Frax is a fractional laser used to improve acne scarring, fine lines, skin texture and sun-related pigmentation, using two wavelengths that treat at different depths.
Nordlys Frax creates microscopic zones of controlled heat in the skin, leaving surrounding tissue intact. This stimulates the skin’s natural healing process and new collagen production over the following weeks.
Most clients require a course of sessions for optimal improvement, with the exact number depending on the concern being treated and assessed during consultation.
The 1550nm wavelength penetrates deeper to stimulate collagen for scarring and fine lines, while the 1940nm wavelength works at a shallower level to target sun damage and superficial pigmentation.
No — Frax and IPL are different technologies, but can be combined. Frax uses fractional laser wavelengths for texture, scarring and collagen stimulation, while IPL uses broad-spectrum light for pigmentation and redness. Your clinician will recommend the right option, or combination, for your skin.
Because treatment only affects a fraction of the skin at a time, downtime is generally minimal, though some redness and sensitivity is common in the days following treatment.

“Rather than a cookie cutter approach to skin health, your skin is analysed using whizz bang equipment, and a treatment plan put in place. I’ve had horrible skin since I hit puberty almost 20 years ago, and my skin now finally glows.”
