We know that there are lotions and potions available for seemingly every contour of your face these days. But, if you’re looking to minimise your skincare products, your eye cream is not the place to start!
The skin around your eyes is very thin and (sadly) ages far more quickly than the rest of your face. That’s why investing in a quality eye cream (which are specifically formulated for use around this delicate area) are a MUST!
The truth is, because of the delicate nature of your eye area, this part of your face actually requires more effort than others! So, although you may have your double-cleanse down pat, your eye area is more worthy of your attention and, can have a big impact on the youthful appearance of your skin.
So, how do you choose a good eye cream? Glad you asked.
Firstly, you should choose a product that is formulated for your specific concerns (puffiness, dark circles, fine lines) and skin type. Don’t go buying the cream your girlfriend loves, because it won’t necessarily be right for YOU!
Here’s our guide on which ingredients to look for by concern:
Puffiness: Seek out formulations that contain caffeine which will act as an anti-inflammatory to reduce puff and tighten skin and Peptides which increase collagen production. You can also consider using a facial roller to gently apply your eye cream.
Dark Circles: For under-eye bags, look out for products containing Peptides. These anti-ageing ingredients increase collagen production and elastin to firm the eye area. Niacinamide or Kojic Acid is also fantastic for brightening your skin by slowing down pigment-producing cells.
Fine Lines: Go for a Retinol (aka Vitamin A) based product which will stimulate collagen production and in turn reduce the look of wrinkles. Hyaluronic Acid and Ceramides also add moisture to your skin, helping plump up wrinkled areas.
If you’re unsure which product you need, your skincare professional will be able to guide you on which formulation to choose, or you can book a skin consultation with us HERE.
